Did you see the movie Godzilla? It is about a gigantic creature called Godzilla. The creature is so huge that Jurassic Park dinosaurs standing next to Godzilla look like dwarves. The Government agencies deploy all men, machines and weapons at their disposal to capture it. But they are unable to find its whereabouts. A young scientist tells the officers, "This is not the way to achieve your goal. Offer Godzilla what it wants and it will come to you." They know Godzilla likes fish. So, they amass tons of fish on an open clear ground. Within a few minutes the smell of the fish pulls Godzilla like a magnet to the open ground.

That is exactly the way to attract elusive money and prosperity to you. Money has certain characteristics and is attracted by certain things, values, principles and attitudes. These things are under your control. If you follow these values and have the right attitude, money will come to you immediately like Godzilla. These factors pull money like a magic magnet.

Following the principles that attract money is as easy as offering fish to Godzilla.

Money likes many things. This book will discuss a few of them that you can immediately use to attract money. The key to the success is to really believe that your efforts will attract money.

Energy, decision, cleanliness, orderliness, silence, harmony, soft speech, silent will, accounts, being positive, attitudes and life response are some of the magnets that will attract money to you.

Whether you are employed or self-employed, these charms will work infallibly.

Money Magnet #01
Positive Atmosphere
Though subtle atmosphere is invisible to our eyes, it decides whether you will make money or not. We create our own atmosphere with our thoughts, feelings and actions. Things like cleanliness, orderliness and attitudes play a great role in building money atmosphere.

We can create favorable atmosphere to attract money by slightly adjusting our present habits.

As you cannot earn money if your atmosphere is negative, you must do what you can to remove negative elements with implant positive elements.

If you refuse to give attention to negative elements and concentrate only on positive elements, the atmosphere will change from negative to positive.

Our common mental activities are thinking and reading. Most of us don't manipulate thoughts consciously or unconsciously; thoughts manipulate us.

Over time, your education, nature and environment create a mental atmosphere that works like a receiver of certain types of thoughts. Only a fortunate few develop a positive mental atmosphere. These people attract opportunities wherever they go.

It's possible for you to change your atmosphere by changing your thoughts.

The author gives a few simple ways to do it. There are other more powerful methods. But they require serious and constant effort. The following methods do not require heavy investment of time and effort. They will work for most people and solve common problems.

Reading Technique
We read weeklies, newspapers and magazines that carry negative stories and news without any idea about their effect on our mental atmosphere. We watch movies and television serials that are full of violence and sensuality. The dialogs are negative. Themes are negative. When we read the negative stories from books or watch negative scenes from movies, they begin to reside in our mental and vital atmospheres. Many positive and income opportunities are cancelled by these negative entities.

Reading a book, any book, will bring the mental atmosphere of the author. The idea of the book and the atmosphere of the author are different things. The ideas may be grand and about helping the humanity. But, if the author has a negative atmosphere, whenever you read his books, you will experience the results of the author's negative atmosphere. Of course, the effect of the book depends on the force of the author.

Arnold was a software developer. He wanted to test this technique. He decided to read books by the most successful software businessmen and see the effect of the books on his software business. He bought three books by three different authors.

Whenever he read the first book, his software sales on that day increased by 50%. Sometimes, he experienced 100% growth in daily sales. The second book sometimes brought increase. Otherwise it did not have any significant effect. The third book always brought trouble, decrease in sales and unfavorable news. On research Arnold found out that the author of the third book wrote it when he was undergoing a big crisis in his life. The idea was great. The expression was elegant. Even though he has overcome the problems now and is a great success, still his old book and the old atmosphere bring in trouble to the reader.

So, try to find out the relationship between your reading and the results. You will be greatly benefitted. Your experience must be the basis of reading a book and not the theme of the book. If you cultivate the habit of reading positive books that give positive results, your mental atmosphere will begin to change.

But don't blame just the book for negative results, when you have many other negative things to set right.

Writing Technique
Get a new notebook for positive atmosphere, an old or a new notebook for negative atmosphere and a few pieces of blank papers.

Prepare a list of negative ideas and positive ideas you think you have on a piece of paper. When we write down, surprisingly the list of positive ideas that we think we have will be long and the list of negative ideas we think we have will almost be blank.

That's the trick of the mind. We think we are positive and good. But if you observe your life, you will realize that the truth is different. Go through the lists of positive and negative ideas and think whether they are really true. In the second phase, your negative list will grow and your positive list will shrink.

Then take your negative atmosphere notebook, write down the first negative idea and think about your past reactions, decisions, feelings and actions related to that idea. If possible make a short note of them.

Now tear away the negative idea sheet from the negative atmosphere notebook and destroy it with a strong feeling that it is leaving you. It will leave you.

It won't come back to you again unless you invite it and open your inner doors to it.

Then firmly decide to accept the opposite positive idea and write the first positive idea on the positive atmosphere notebook. You must read it once a day and resolve to follow it in all walks of your life.

Of course, this is an easy and simple method. It will work for common simple negative ideas. If the negative ideas have their roots very deep in your personality, you may need different methods, discussion of which is beyond the scope of this book.

Comparison Technique
Our mind divides and sees. It differentiates between good and bad; high and low and moral and immoral. You can use this characteristic of the mind to your advantage to change your mental habits.

You will compare your positive or negative idea with something more positive or more negative respectively. Then you will identify your situation with a new situation mentally, experience it inwardly and take a decision to change your habit.

First let us take negative idea. We will use a negative method to solve the problem. Compare your negative idea with something repulsive and try to identify with it. You will realize how important it is to change your negative idea.

For example, you have a financial difficulty. The right approach must be to earn more to overcome the difficulty. Everyone knows you have the capacity. But you think it is impossible. You believe that you can overcome your difficulty only if others help you.

Think of a negative situation. On a busy street, a beggar in good health nags you for money. He has a moving story about his difficulty. Will you listen to his story and give him money? Won't you think he must work and earn? Most of us will ignore him.

Now, imagine that you are the beggar and the passerby is the person from whom you expect help. Imagine you are begging though you are healthy and he is insulting you.

How humiliating it is! If you experience the humiliation for a moment inwardly, mentally and emotionally, you will give up the idea of living in others money permanently from the roots of your personality.

Though this is a negative method, it will work powerfully and can give you positive results. Certainly there are many positive methods to help. But, at times, some people need bitter medicine.

Techniques are instruments. You can use them, abuse them or misuse them. Common sense and discretion must be the basis for using these techniques to solve your problems. Remember these two magic words in any situation - common sense and absolute discretion.

In the above example, if you blindly follow the above technique, you will end up being egoistic and miss opportunities. If Government offers subsidy to start a small business and if you reject it because you don't want to live in others' money, you are permanently closing your doors on prosperity.

For each negative idea, you can think of a more negative idea, compare it with your situation and identify yourself with it. You will be cured. You can use the comparison technique for positive ideas also to improve your position.

You earn Rs.10,000 a month. Your neighbor earns Rs.5,000. You have a positive feeling that you earn well. Now, you compare yourself with someone who earns Rs.25,000 a month. Think of the benefits you will enjoy, if you earn Rs.25,000 a month. Experience the benefits in your imagination. That will motivate you to earn more money. We gave the numbers 10,000 and 25,000 to ourselves. These numbers were not given to us; we created them. Your imagination will motivate you to earn more money and make you positive.

We discussed about a few techniques to create positive mental atmosphere. There are many methods to set right vital and physical atmospheres. For example, the type of people you socialize with can influence your vital atmosphere. Your physical arrangement of objects in your office room may influence your physical atmosphere. You must learn the methods and practise them.

Now, let us move on to other money magnets.

Money Magnet #02
Energy
Energy is money. Energy is the basis of all achievement and creativity. The quantity of money you will earn is directly proportionate to the quantity of your disciplined energy. We can generate energy because we have access to many sources of energy. If you plug the holes that waste energy, generate energy and use it properly, you will be prosperous. Each of us have energy in varying measures. How we use the energy decides how much we earn. It is quite possible for a man with a little but disciplined energy to earn more than a man with a great but wasted energy.

Our habits, thoughts, speech, attitudes, feelings and actions are some of the sources of energy.

If you have positive habits, positive thoughts, controlled speech, right attitude, positive feelings and skilled actions, you will generate energy.

You are encouraged to read books that tell you in detail about atmosphere, energy, cleanliness, silent will and other values that are money magnets.

Money Magnet #03
Cleanliness
The time you spend on cleanliness is a direct money making activity. The author believes the cleanliness of your toilets, back of the cupboards and the top of the window grills are the yardsticks of your cleanliness. Anyone including kids can attract money through cleanliness.

Uncle From America
Kavitha, a five year old kid, cleaned her cupboard and arranged her things around 7.30 PM on a Sunday. On the same night, her uncle who had come to India from the United States for a holiday, suddenly decided to visit Kavitha's family as he had not visited them for more than five years. After a delicious dinner, just before he took leave, he gave $200 as gift to Kavitha. Elders giving cash gifts to children is a common practice in India.

Money Magnet #04
Orderliness
All the material objects including newspapers, shoes and comb must be kept in order and properly handled. When you keep papers and currency in your pockets do you keep them in order? Orderliness must be brought both inside and outside the cupboards and cabinets.

If you have computer, try to organize the folders and files in My Documents and all application folders in your hard disk in a meaningful way.

Notebook Problem
Stacey Stewart had a notebook computer. The recovery disk from the manufacturer was not useful to her as she had many other applications and customized settings. To install all the applications manually, it would take 4 hours. She used to come to Ralph every fortnight with some problem in her notebook. He had to reinstall everything by formatting the hard disk.

One day, when she left him alone with her computer, Ralph reinstalled everything, organized all the files and took an image, an exact replica, of the system on a CD. Next time, he thought, he could reinstall her system in 10 minutes, instead 4 hours.

'Next time' never came. She never had a problem with her notebook after Ralph created the disk image. Her employer saw the image CD and immediately requested Ralph to prepare similar image CDs for all the systems in his company. Ralph was able to do the work in three days and earned $1200.

Money Magnet #05
Harmony
You must always have harmonious relationship with men, machines and materials. The moment you begin a quarrel with someone or mishandle an instrument you are declaring war against your own prosperity.

Saved Titanic
Surendar used to quarrel with his wife over all petty things. He would criticize every word and movement of his wife. She would criticize his character and his parents. They never thought that their restaurant business was slowly going down because of disharmony between them.

One day, they watched the movie Titanic together. The love between Jack and Rose suddenly changed their hearts and each began to apologize to the other. That was the moment they understood how much they loved each other and the quarrels were just an expression of the deep love. They resolved not to quarrel again over anything. Their decision was genuine and sincere.

The next day the young couple received an offer from an apartment builder to acquire the old restaurant building and they made a profit of a few million rupees. It would have taken them more than 16 years to earn that money through the restaurant business.

Soft Speech
Speech consumes energy. If you speak in a low voice, audible only to the listener and use the minimum number of words to express your thoughts, you will attract money. Soft speech and controlled speech are essential to achieve prosperity.

Money Magnet #07
Silent Will
In any discussion, we are tempted to express our thoughts. Thoughts have a peculiar characteristic. If you refuse to express it, the thought will try to seek expression in someone near to you. The person who expresses thinks that it is his idea. So, he will happily approve the idea.

As business involves a minimum of two persons, if you follow silent will, you will get things done through others easily and more profitably. Never express your requests, demands or thoughts to other person first. Seek his opinion and find out what he thinks and needs. Try to see things only from his point of view. You will be amazed to see that his point of view is exactly yours after a few minutes of interaction when you follow silent will.

The Receptionist
Selvi was a receptionist in a hotel. She always spoke politely in a soft voice. She earned Rs. 2,500 a month. The hotel owner was a strict and tough business man.

One day, her colleague did not listen to a customer properly and as a result he was billed wrongly. She told the owner it was Selvi's mistake. The owner began to scold Selvi. Though Selvi wanted to explain what happened, she decided to use silent will.

The commotion drew the attention of the unhappy customer. He was surprised to see that the wrong person was in trouble. He interfered to tell the owner that Selvi had always been polite and soft spoken and the person who created the problem was her colleague. The hotel owner was highly irritated and immediately dismissed the colleague. Then he told Selvi, "I'm sorry about the incident. Why didn't you tell me what happened?"

Selvi said, "You want to make all our customers happy. I thought we must find a way to solve the problem and make the customer happy instead of trying to find whose mistake it was." The hotel owner was happy and told Selvi, "You are responsible and thoughtful. You should not be a receptionist anymore. From this moment, you are the customer service manager."

Money Magnet #08
Decision
Only if you decide and want to become prosperous, you can be prosperous. You only can decide your future. The rest of the book will be useful to you, only if you decide to become prosperous.

Desire and decision are different things. All of us have desire to make money. Only a few of us decide to make money. If your family members also decide to become prosperous, their decision will release a great amount of energy into your atmosphere.

The Supporter
Srinivasan was a school teacher and had a peaceful life. Ramya, his wife wanted to learn about internet and computer and work on her own from home to earn money. But, Srinivasan always made fun of her serious efforts. So, Ramya stopped talking to him about her. However, she joined a computer institute and learnt to use Adobe PhotoShop.

A few months ago, Srinivasan was dismissed from service. He suddenly realized the truth about job security. He felt sorry for his attitude towards Ramya and tried to change it. The family needed a regular income immediately. Ramya's skills in graphics software and the goodwill of a family friend got her a job within a week.

After three months, Srinivasan got his job back. He decided to support Ramya fully in her self-employment venture whether she succeeded or not. Ramya too decided to explore all the available income opportunities. As soon as the dust settled, he bought a new computer for his wife and requested her to start her own business.

Ramya's decision released a great amount of energy within her atmosphere. But, her husband's decision and support created a powerful atmosphere around the family. Now she earns Rs.5,000 a month as a contract designer of graphically rich invitation cards.

Money Magnet #09
Accounts
Writing accounts every day is an effective way of giving attention to money. If you are perfect in this practice, money will come to you to meet expenses. You will never experience cash shortage.

You must write accounts for business, personal and household transactions. Many people write only business accounts and ignore household accounts. Their logic is business generates income and therefore business accounts deserve attention. Money is money, whether it is business or household. You write accounts to give attention to and to attract money. So, business and household accounts deserve equal attention.

Some people write accounts. But, they always find some difference. They ignore it or post it to suspense account and believe their accounts are perfect. Writing accounts makes sense only if they tally.

Forgotten Money
Kate Orchards had forgotten to send Bill $400 that she owed him. He sent an email to her three years ago about it. He did not flag the email for follow-up and he forgot the matter. Two months ago when he tried to organize his emails, he found that email. When Bill contacted Kate, she sent the money immediately with a letter of apology. If Bill had maintained proper accounts, this delay could have been avoided. If he had deleted the email by mistake, he would never have received the money.

Life Response
In the last chapter, you read about a few Life Response principles and real life examples. If you learn those principles well and apply them to your financial and personal lives, money will come to you.

There are many other money magnets like giving up opinions, changing attitudes and seeing things from customer's point of view. The author has covered some of them in different chapters in this book.
