The cinema halls in Auckland city are not as big as
the cinema theatres in India. The size of the population
is one reason. Another reason is the mindset of the
movie goers. It is time for the movie goers and the
television ‘mega serial’ audience in India to decide on
how much time, money and energy they can afford to spend
on entertainment, if they really want to build a
prosperous family and nation.
A few years ago I had been to a cinema hall in
Auckland city to watch the movie ‘Air Force One’. The
President of the United States makes an inspiring speech
in Moscow outlining his new zero-tolerance policy with
respect to terrorism and asserts that he will never
negotiate with the enemies of his country. On the way
back to home, Russian hijackers take over the plane.
They want to capture the President and force him to call
Moscow to release their leader from the prison. But, the
President, an ex-soldier, risks the lives of his wife
and daughter, eliminates the hijackers and regains
control of Air Force One.
‘Air Force One’ is not technically an airplane. It is
the radio signal call name for any United States Air
Force plane carrying the president of the United States.
As soon as the president steps aboard an Air Force
plane, that plane is referred to as Air Force One by the
crew and all air traffic controllers, in order to avoid
confusion with any other planes in the area. However,
people generally refer to the physical plane itself as
Air Force One.
And that created an income opportunity for Anita
Reddy. She had setup a small shop near the cinema hall.
There were thousands of beautiful, colorful paper
airplanes in her shop and I was attracted by them.
“I have never seen such paper airplanes. Where do you
buy them from?” I asked her. “I make these airplanes. I
am the only business woman in the country that makes and
sells handmade paper airplanes,” she said.
“I thought these were machine made. They are so
perfect!” I exclaimed. Anita was pleased with my words.
“I use my computer and a paper airplane making software
to produce these airplanes,” she said.
“How did you get the idea?” I asked her. “Recently I
was returning home in a bus after watching the movie Air
Force One. A teenager in the bus told her friend that
she wished to buy a toy model of the President’s
airplane. Her friend said she would never be able to
find one. I have always believed that behind every small
opening there is a flood of prosperity. So I decided to
create a toy airplane. However, you need money, machines
and engineers to create a metal or plastic model of the
airplane. As I have limited resources, I thought of
creating paper models. I searched the web for a template
of an airplane. By divine grace, I found out an origami
software. Do you know what origami is?” she asked me. |
